JACKSON — Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says he intends to keep Maj. Gen. Augustus L. “Leon” Collins as the state adjutant general.
In that role, Collins is head of the state Military Department and leads more than 12,275 members of the Mississippi Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
Bryant was re-elected in November and will be inaugurated for his second term Jan. 12. He is starting to announce names of people he wants in top jobs in the executive branch.
Collins’ nomination must be confirmed by the state Senate. Bryant says Monday that the adjutant general has served ably and honorably.
