Dorothy P. Wilson, publisher and editor of Gulf Coast Woman, LLC and president of DWilson and Associates, LLC, has been named the 2016 Mississippi Women in Business Champion by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Wilson was nominated for the award by Marcia McDowell, executive director of the South Mississippi Contract Procurement Center.
Wilson, majority shareholder in Gulf Coast Woman, has led the company for the past four years. In 2015, Wilson helped to conceive and worked with a team to develop and launch SUCCESS Women’s Conference.
Wilson serves on the board of the Boys & Girls Club and Mississippi Coast Chamber and the Mississippi Coast Chamber Board of Directors and is a mentor and coach for a number of businesswomen on the Coast.
Wilson has been invited to join other Small Business Week winners at an awards event May 3 in Jackson, Miss. The week of May 1, SBA will honor the nation’s top small business entrepreneurs for their personal successes and contributions to the nation’s economy.
