James Caldwell, who has 30 years experience in the nursing profession, has been named chief nursing officer at the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s hospital campuses in Grenada and Holmes County.
Caldwell joins UMMC after serving as chief nursing officer at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn. Before that, he was chief nursing officer at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, Tenn., part of the Baptist Memorial Health Care system.
Much of his career in bedside nursing and management has been spent in hospital emergency departments.
A native of Wynne, Ark., Caldwell will oversee 193 registered nurses and licensed practical nurses employed at UMMC Grenada and at the Holmes County campus in Lexington.
Caldwell and his wife, Becky, will make their home in Grenada. They have four grown children and 12 grandchildren.
