Countertop maker to open Lee County plant

AIA Countertops, a division of Patrick Industries Inc., is opening operations in Baldwyn in Lee County, investing $600,000 and creating 60 jobs.

AIA will be located in an existing 110,000-square-foot building in the Harry A. Martin North Lee Industrial Complex. The building was previously occupied by Fairfield Distribution.

Elkhart, Ind.-based Patrick Industries describes itself as the leading manufacturer of building products and materials to the manufactured housing and recreational vehicle industries in the United States.

Mississippi Development Authority provided $100,000 to relocate and install equipment. Lee County is providing property tax abatements for 10 years. Tennessee Valley Authority is also assisting with the project. TVA does not disclose its contributions for such projects.

AIA is slated to begin operations in Lee County in September.
