A Canadian spice and seasoning company will open a factory in Wayne County to make plastic containers, investing $4 million and hiring 33 workers.
IMold Plastics, a subsidiary of iSpice Foods, announced its plans Tuesday. The iMold plant will supply containers to a 125-worker iSpice Foods plant in Jackson, Alabama, that opened earlier this year.
Mississippi Development Authority spokeswoman Tammy Craft says MDA is giving iMold $660,000 to build a water line. Wayne County will spend $1.3 million to build a 50,000-square foot building, the first in the county’s new Meadowlands Industrial Park, leasing it to iMold. Craft says no further local incentives are expected.
The company plans to reach full operation by May. Craft says projected wage levels aren’t immediately available.
ISpice Foods imports and processes peppers and spices.
