Patty Oates, Senior Academic Advisor and School Certifying Officer for the Tulane School of Continuing Studies Mississippi Campuses, was recently elected to serve as the 2016-2017 President of the Veterans Affairs Administrators of Mississippi, which promotes and provides for veterans by utilizing research to enhance the communication between educational institutions and sponsors of veterans programs.

Oates will act as the liaison between the State Approving Agent and the Education Liaison. She is responsible for contacting Mississippi School Certifying Officials with any changes that take place pertaining to VA educational benefits.

Also, she will schedule training sessions for School Certifying Officials and will serve as the point of contact for any questions from Mississippi School Certifying Officials.

Oates has worked for Tulane’s School of Continuing Studies since 2007, and she is a U.S. Air Force veteran.
