Cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgeon Hector Dox has joined the staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle in Columbus.
Originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico, Dox received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan in 1988, where he also completed his internship and residency in general surgery. He completed a second residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Congenital Heart Surgery and Transplantation at the UCLA Medical Center.
Before moving to Columbus, Dox spent 17 years in private practice, most recently in Lima, Ohio, where he served as chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at San Rita’s Medical Center. He was also previously in private practice in Salina, Calif., and Gulfport.
He holds certifications from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Medical Association. Dox has served on the faculty at several medical schools including the University of New Mexico Health Science Center; UCLA Medical Center; the Ohio State University Medical Center; and the University Of Puerto Rico School Of Medicine.
He and his wife Carol live in Columbus.
