Surgical oncologist Phillip Ley, MD, FACS, has joined the practice of Merit Health Medical Group.
With more than 20 years of experience, Ley specializes in breast cancer surgery, and performs additional surgeries to treat melanoma, sarcoma and endocrine (thyroid) surgery.
Ley completed pharmacy school at the University of Texas before enrolling at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at Texas A&M University’s Scott & White Clinic in Temple, Texas, then went on to complete a surgical oncology fellowship through the University of Texas at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Ley is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of a variety of organizations, such as the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. As part of his work, he is a clinical cancer genomic research associate for City of Hope National Medical Center, a renowned comprehensive cancer center, in Duarte, Calif.
Ley is on the active medical staff of Merit Health Woman’s Hospital and Merit Health River Oaks.
