while downtown Jackson may have a few projects that are essential to the rebirth of downtown Jackson, being a native Jacksonian, I was thoroughly dissatisfied with the Christmas decorations along Capitol Street. Not only were they almost invisible, most of the lights didn't work and they absolutely had nothing to do with Christmas. Have we become too politically concerned with offending anyone by saying Merry Christmas or any comments/decorations that might refer to Christmas. From my point of view, the city might as well not even put up the tasteless, non-working lights. In a word, they were depressing. Christmas decorations are supposed to bring out the joy and happiness that is associated with Christmas, these did not! Hopefully, the city can do much better in the future or just don't do at all.
