STARKVILLE — - Starkville city officials have voted to allow restaurants, bars and clubs to sell alcohol on Sundays.
The city must now petition the state Tax Commission for approval of the sales, which would be allowed from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Package-store sales of alcohol still would be banned on Sundays in the city that is home to Mississippi State University.
Starkville’s aldermen voted 4-3 Tuesday night in favor of the Sunday sales. Restaurants could start serving alcohol by Sept. 18.
