ACROSS MISSISSIPPI — The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) will host a series of workshops statewide to provide information about the State Energy Program (SEP) and Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program.

These workshops are designed to educate city and county officials, as well as community and business leaders, about the opportunities available under both programs and to clarify the application processes.

Workshops are scheduled during the months of October and November. Each session is scheduled from 8 a.m. until noon. Workshops will be held Oct. 29 in the Greenwood, Leflore County Civic Center, Nov. 3 in the Hattiesburg, Lake Terrace Convention Center, Nov. 5 in the Jackson Convention Complex and Nov.12 in Tupelo at the Hilton Garden Conference Center.

More than $49 million was awarded to the state to administer the SEP and EECBG through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. SEP provides approximately $40 million for programs related to energy efficient buildings, market transformation and technology deployment and job protection through energy economic development. Roughly $9.6 million has been allocated for the EECBG Program to provide energy audits, energy efficient retrofits, energy efficient traffic signals and lighting and other energy conservation activities to local units of government.
