Another community joins Main Street network

GRENADA — You can add Grenada to the growing list of Mississippi cities designated as a Downtown Network Member Community.

Grenada joins the cities of Eupora and Newton as a member of the DNMB, sponsored by the Mississippi Main Street Association. The dedication ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Orleans Bistro on South Main Street in Grenada at 11 a.m.

Membership level for the Downtown Network Community is designated for smaller communities interested in being a catalyst for change in their downtowns and to eventually become members of the Mississippi Main Street Association. The MMSA is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Mississippi Development Authority.

“Mississippi Main Street is excited to welcome Grenada into the Main Street family, and we look forward in assisting the ongoing efforts to revitalize Grenada’s downtown core,” said Bob Wilson, MMSA executive director.

Speakers at the designation ceremony include Wilson, Grenada Mayor Billy Collins, Grenada committee chairman Jerome Boudreaux, Grenada Economic Development District executive director Pablo Diaz and Sam Agnew, MMSA director of program services for the northern district.

Currently, there are 52 MMSA member communities in the Magnolia State.
