Three honored by MC

Tina Williamson

Robert Anderson

The Mississippi College School of Law has recognized Tina Williamson and Robert G. Anderson as Lawyer of the Year. Williamson is the director of corporate compliance with Mississippi Children’s Home Services in Jackson. She was formerly the director of annual giving and alumni affairs at Mississippi College School of Law, where she also served as co-editor of the Amicus alumni magazine. In addition to her J.D., Williamson holds an A.A.S. in respiratory therapy and B.A. degrees in psychology and Biblical studies from Belhaven College. While attending law school, she worked as a respiratory therapist at hospitals in Jackson and Tupelo. After graduating from law school, Williamson worked part-time as a member of a criminal defense team in the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Holland. She has lectured on healthcare-related topics and is the author of several articles for corporate compliance and risk management in the medical field.

Anderson is senior counsel with Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC. His areas of emphasis include white-collar crime, governmental investigations, commercial litigation, and healthcare law. Anderson’s trial experience includes prosecuting multi-million dollar cases involving everything from HIPAA healthcare fraud to money laundering schemes to public corruption. Anderson serves as an adjunct professor at MC Law, teaching courses in healthcare law, appellate advocacy, and white-collar criminal crime. His legal career includes clerkships for Judge Glenn Davidson, Judge William H. Barbour Jr. and Judge Charles Pickering.

Deb Beckenbaugh Welsh

In a separate item, Deb Beckenbaugh Welch was recognized as the Alumna of the Year by the School of Nursing Physics at MC. During her 25-year career at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), Welch became a certified pediatric nurse and obtained her master of science in nursing with certification as a family nurse practitioner. Welch’s nursing experience ranges from emergency pediatrics to adult critical care. Following her retirement from UMMC, Welch worked as a family nurse practitioner at a rural health clinic, then joined the nursing school faculty at MC in January 2005.

Welch is the chair of the Mississippi Nurse’s Association committee on health affairs and the past president, secretary, membership chair and current education chair for the Pediatric Endocrinology Nursing Society. She is the faculty counselor and president-elect of the Omicron Lambda chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing and the faculty.
