Hudspeth to succeed Walker on board

At its April meeting, board members for the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges (SBCJC) elected Henry (Bubba) Hudspeth of Louisville as its chairman beginning July 1. Hudspeth succeeds George Walker of Clarksdale, who has served as chairman for the past 15 years and will assume the role of vice-chairman.
Hudspeth was reappointed to the board by Gov. Haley Barbour in 2009 after serving an unexpired term in 2006 to represent the Third Congressional District. Gov. Kirk Fordice appointed him to a six-year term in 1996.
He is a lifetime resident of Louisville and a graduate of East Central Community College. He has previously served on East Central’s board for more than 28 years with ten of those years as chairman of the board.
Walker was appointed to the board by Gov. Ray Mabus in 1991 to represent the Second Congressional District. He was reappointed by successive Democratic and Republican Governors. Walker is serving his fourth consecutive six-year term on the board.
