Disaster loan deadlines approaching
ACROSS MISSISSIPPI — Deadlines are approaching for victims of the April and May tornados in Mississippi to apply for federal disaster grants and low-interest loans.
Rep. Travis Childers (D-Miss.) says the Federal Emergency Management Agency and U.S. Small Business Administration offer the help for people affected by tornadoes in 13 north Mississippi counties.
Those in Attala, Choctaw, Holmes, Monroe, Oktibbeha, Union, Warren and Yazoo counties, must apply by June 28. July 13 is the deadline for residents of Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Tippah and Tishomingo counties.
FEMA grants can help cover uninsured or underinsured home repairs, temporary housing, personal property and other disaster-related needs. The SBA serves homeowners, renters, businesses and private non-profits.
