Market takes over as Court marshal
A new marshal of the Mississippi Supreme Court took up his duties July 12. Stephen Market is a veteran law enforcement officer from Madison. He’s replacing A.W. Grubbs of Brandon, who retired June 30 after 14 years of service.
The Supreme Court marshal supervises all security and emergency operations at the Gartin Justice Building in Jackson. The marshal also coordinates with police on security for the justices, Court of Appeals judges and all staffer members working in the justice building.
The Supreme Court justices appoint the marshal.
The 57-year-old Market retired June 30 as chief deputy U.S. marshal for the 45-county Southern District of Mississippi.
