Yes, Dorsie, your parents came here legally in 1920. But there were no "quotas" then. Question: Were they seeking a better life like the hispanics? Would they have come anyway if America's immigration laws were as restrictive as they are now? If they had a loved one here that was legal and they wanted to join them, if hispanic today they would have a wait of 16 years. We do not live in the same legal system today that your parents came here under in the 1920s.

AMEN!! I fully support everything you said. My grandparents came here, legally, back in the 1920's. They had to file for citizenship and all that. They bought and paid for a small farm, raised and paid for education (Catholic school) for 8 children. People who really want to be here and live the "American Dream", work hard and try to help the country instead of bleeding it dry.

Yes, there is a problem. However, why are you not going after the big businesspeople who are hiring the "illegals." If noone is hiring, what is the reason for staying where one is?

Then maybe Yancey should consider moving to Australia, or Asia, or Europe...Arizona even. Congress so clearly preempted the field of immigration that it is preposterous, and unconstitutional, to even waste legislative effort on regulating this. And if he was not doing it for the press, the political attention, he most likely would have waited until the federal courts decided on Arizona's case before dragging Mississippi through the mud. Maybe if he stopped to address the very reasons WHY illegal immigrants came here in the first place, and OUR role in their doing so, we could actually solve the problem without noncommomsensical clogging of the federal courts. This is very similar to the 'national dread' americans feared after the Great depression, the looming potential threat that illegals posed to their shattered economy. Postmodern capitalism at its finest.

this man is right on about imigration. Everyone should get in line behind him and help get his bill passed. If you aren't here legally, pack your bags and go home. We do not need you here. You are a drain on our country, go home and help your country be prosperous. Oh and by the way you can take Obama with you for he thinks you are so great for this country that he is willing to rewrite our federal laws to accomadate you. what a sorry situation when no one listens to the citizens of this country about what they want our elected officials to do about securing our borders. I hope everyone takes it in to consideration when it is election time. vote them all out and we will take back our country. Our country is American and if you want to come here then do it the right way legally and come to be Americans , not mexicans. muslims, chinese, japanese, or any other nationally just Americans. Keep your cultures but honor our American ones. and join us legally as rightful Americans. we spent 30 yrs in our military and met many different nationallities. They were awesome people and brought a richness to our country and military, they came to be our fellow Americans and well loved by all of us who came in contact with them.

How does he feel about punishing corporations like Howard Industries for hiring illegal aliens. Some of these Mississippi lawmakers are such hippocrites on this issue. They want to punish the illegal alien for being here, but won't punish the employer for bringing them here.
