Toyota supplier to resume operations in Baldwyn
BALDWYN — Gov. Haley Barbour announced that Auto Parts Manufacturing Mississippi Inc., the U.S. operations of Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd., will move forward with its plans to provide stamped parts, body weld parts and plastic parts to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi plant at Blue Springs. The $200-million facility in Baldwyn will employ close to 300 people.
In June, Toyota announced that it would resume operations at its 10th North American manufacturing facility at Blue Springs. APMM’s start of production will coincide with the start-up of Toyota’s new Corolla plant in fall of 2011.
The first Toyota supplier to announce in July 2007, the company’s 516,700-square-foot facility is its first in the U.S. TAB, based in Kariya-city, Japan, is 56.03 percent owned by Toyota Motor Corporation and is part of the Toyota Group of Companies. TAB manufactures auto and special vehicle bodies and parts and has nearly 13,500 employees globally.
