Book Biz: Former Burger King franchise owner shares secrets of success
As a major fast food chain franchisee for more than 23 years, Harry Noble learned many lessons. He began working in his dad’s restaurant at age 12, went out on his own at 28 and operated 13 Burger King restaurants in Mississippi and Arkansas with annual sales of $20 million. Going from restaurant employee to entrepreneur, he became a leading force within the corporation.
The Greenville native sold his foodservice business in 2007, but years of mentoring young people made him want to help them chart a plan of action for success. The result is “The Plan,” a short book that came out last December.
“I mentored a lot of kids and wanted something simple that they will read,” he said. “Most of the students I talked to didn’t have an idea on how to be successful. Without a plan of action, most won’t be, but this plan will help guide them in the right direction.”
Noble has residences in Greenville and Jackson and now manages commercial real estate, but he hasn’t lost his interest in students and young adults. He says the book would make a great graduation gift. “It’s never too early to formulate a plan,” he said.
Readers will follow Noble’s personal career track to success as he demonstrates how to identify passion, find niche markets, capitalize on strengths and keep more of their earnings. Based on his experience in the business world, “The Plan” lays out a blueprint for small business success. “It aims to help readers determine the difference between coming out on top and staying stuck on the sidelines,” he said.
