Feds bring more charges against Delta housing director

GREENVILLE — Federal investigators have brought new charges against the housing authority director for six Mississippi counties and a contractor who did business with the South Delta Regional Housing Authority.
Ann J. Jefferson, executive director of the agency, had been scheduled for trial at the end of the month in Greenville on three counts of intimidating witnesses in a federal investigation.
The Delta Democrat Times reports that yesterday she was charged with five new counts, including embezzling federal money, lying to federal investigators and witness tampering.
Jimmy Johnson of Johnson Brothers was charged with embezzlement, lying to investigators and witness tampering.
The housing authority operates in Bolivar, Humphreys, Sunflower, Issaquena, Sharkey and Washington counties.
