Entergy workers helping with hurricane recovery

JACKSON — Entergy Mississippi workers are on the East Coast, helping in the recovery from Hurricane Irene.

Crews have left to go to Rockville, Md. They plan to restore service for customers of Pepco Holdings Inc. in the Washington, D.C., area. PHI utilities sent workers to help Entergy restore service to its customers following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

“Because we are sending a contingency of linemen and support crews, restoration in our service territory could take longer than usual, so we’re asking for customers’ understanding,” said Robbin Jeter, director of transmission and distribution for Entergy Mississippi.

Entergy is providing 170 company workers from its service areas in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi as well as 92 resident utility contractors.

Some of Entergy’s workers will be traveling more than 1,300 miles.
