GAUTIER — The city of Gautier will pay former City Manager Sidney Runnels back pay dating from Oct. 4-Nov. 15 and grant him 12 weeks of medical leave.

The Mississippi Press reports the city council also agreed Tuesday to reimburse Runnells for a nearly $1,400 insurance payment that he made after he was fired.

On a 4-3 vote the city council fired Runnels at its Oct. 4 meeting. The termination was effective immediately.

Runnels had served as city manager since 2008. Previously he had been city manager at Grenada, economic development director for West Memphis, Ark., and mayor of Canton.

Robert Ramsay, city attorney, is interim city manager.
