McKinnon-Hicks wins award

Lil McKinnon-Hicks, a Mississippi goldsmith/silversmith and jewelry artist who produces work under the business name of Lil McKH Jewelry, was recently recognized with the circa. URBAN ARTISAN LIVING ’2011 Best Artisan Gift Award’ for best gift item in the $25 – 75 price range.

circa., located in the Historic Fondren District of Jackson, features American, artisan-made functional and decorative work and represents approximately 225 artisans from across North America. All artisans with work at circa., and others who completed an application for consideration were eligible for the circa. URBAN ARTISAN LIVING ’2011 Best Artisan Gift Awards’.

As a circa. URBAN ARTISAN LIVING “2011 Best Artisan Gift Award” winner, McKinnon-Hicks as well as the two other winners, Don Drumm, Akron, Ohio, and Robin Smith of Jackson received an original display award handcrafted in fused glass by Craig Escude.

McKinnon-Hicks is an exhibiting member of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi, an adjudicated master artist of the Southern Arts Federation, a member of the Florida Society of Goldsmiths, the Mississippi Gem & Mineral Society, the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical & Lapidary Societies and the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies. She is a member of the Mississippi Forge Council, Artist Blacksmiths Association of North America, Ethical Metalsmiths and the Precious Metal Clay Guild.

McKinnon-Hicks maintains a private studio at 200 Commerce Street (above Hal & Mal’s) in downtown Jackson.
