City adopts new zoning regulations, building code

D’IBERVILLE — New zoning regulations have been adopted in D’Iberville that simplify the city code and require commercial buildings to meet architectural standards.
The Sun Herald reports Chris Watson, a consultant with Bridge & Watson urban and regional planners, held up a slim book of regulations yesterday that replace a fatter volume that was in use. Watson said he worked with the city staff to revise and consolidate the multitude of ordinances into the single book.
In 2010 he helped the city develop a new comprehensive plan.
Watson said the architectural guidelines are for the parts of the city not included in the SmartCode, which governs how a building should look in the downtown.
Deonne Olier, the city’s planning director, said she and her staff are happy with the new code.
