Supervisors delay action on Greenwood-Leflore Airport grant

GREENWOOD — Leflore County supervisors have delayed action on a grant to tear down and rebuild a general aviation area at the Greenwood-Leflore Airport.
The Greenwood Commonwealth reports the general aviation area has never been used because of design problems.
Supervisors say they want to meet with the airport board next week.
The Delta Regional Authority grant would provide $200,000 to pay for construction of a new general aviation apron. The city and county, which jointly own the airport, would be required to provide a combined $150,000 worth of labor by tearing out the existing apron and removing the debris.
Chancery Clerk Sam Abraham said that several people want to build hangars and that the grant has an upcoming deadline.
