JACKSON — Customers of Entergy Mississippi Inc. will likely see their rates drop further in April, May and June, according to the utility.
The company recently submitted its routine quarterly fuel adjustment to the staff of the Mississippi Public Service Commission. If approved, the typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month will pay roughly $90.60, beginning April 1. That is about $4.50 less than the average monthly amount paid in March. It is also $2.61 less than the typical residential customer paid during the second quarter of 2011, when 1,000 kWh of electricity cost approximately $93.20.
“The decrease can be attributed in part to continued low fuel costs and the mild temperatures we experienced this winter,” said Haley Fisackerly, president and CEO for Entergy Mississippi. “We also use a diverse mix of fuel to generate electricity at the lowest reasonable cost.”
The MPSC and the Mississippi Public Utilities Staff have approximately 45 days before the start of the affected quarter to review the fuel adjustment submittal and make any changes.
