Jefferson found guilty of embezzlement, obstruction, witness intimidation

GREENVILLE — A federal jury has convicted the director of a housing organization on charges of intimidating witnesses in a federal investigation.
WABG-TV reports South Delta Regional Housing Authority director Ann Jefferson was convicted yesterday in federal court in Greenville. No sentencing date has been set.
U.S. Attorney Felicia Adams says Jefferson was convicted of two counts of embezzlement, two counts of obstruction of justice and three counts of witness intimidation. Jefferson was acquitted of lying to a federal agent.
Prosecutors say Jefferson converted money from several housing authority accounts to her own use.
Prosecutors say Jefferson retaliated against two employees and a woman who bought a house from SDRHA after she found out the individuals had been cooperating with federal investigators looking into alleged crimes committed by Jefferson and others.
