City joins county in offering land for peanut-processing plant

GREENWOOD — The city of Greenwood has joined Leflore County in agreeing to sell 30 acres in the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park at $5,000 per acre to a peanut processor.
The Greenwood Commonwealth reports the city council acted Tuesday on the sale of 30 acres to the Clint Williams Co. of Madill, Okla.
The company has an option for 10 more acres.
The Clint Williams Co. is opening two warehouses as buying points and drying facilities for locally grown peanuts. The other is in Clarksdale. Each facility will have 10 full-time employees and 25 to 30 seasonal workers.
The county and city will building the warehouse and will lease it to the Clint Williams Co.
