The bigger problem is the willing of law enforcement around the country to use tasers, and other non-lethal means, first and ask questions later. I saw a PD officer pull a taser on a suicidal person. He didn’t use it, but the person was unarmed and not making any dangerous moves. I am against PDs and other LEOs from using tasers, pepper spray, batons, most of the time. If you are at that point, pull your lethal weapon. I saw an article where the mentally ill were tased at much higher rates than other populations even when they were in a non-violent situation.

The problem with non-lethal (and people have died from being tased) means that LEOs are more likely to use them when the issue could be defused by talking.There needs to be much stronger rules on when law enforcement can use non-lethal means. If they really need to pull a taser, pepper spray, batons, etc., they are at the point when a gun is needed. I see too many videos where the person is trying to explain something and bam: tased/pepper sprayed. These people were talking rationally or asking questions, weren’t being violent or displaying violent actions/attitudes.

Numerous studies and govt. stats have shown the increased use of nonviolent LEO methods have resulted in greater use against people.
