City’s engineering contract extended until end of July

NATCHEZ — The Natchez Board of Aldermen has voted to extend the engineering contract between the city and Natchez Waterworks until the end of July rather than to renew it outright.

Alderman Rickey Gray recommended the move in order to allow the new board, which will take office July 1, to make the final decision on the contract.

The city and Natchez Waterworks entered into an inter-local agreement seven years ago. David Gardner, of Natchez Waterworks, told the board’s finance committee that too many projects are under way to simply let the contract die.

The board’s move Tuesday extends the contract until July 31. It was last renewed two years ago.
