Republican state Rep. Sam Mims, who sponsored the law, said he’s also pleased Jordan allowed the law to take effect. “I am confident that the new legislation will result in the improvement of health care for women,” Mims said.

Question: Anyone bother to ask him why they didn't include in the law requiring UMMC, the state-funded hospital 2 blocks down the street, to admit the patients if it was needed? Seems like a logical question to ask. If Rep. Mims really cared about the womens' health, he could have taken an additional step to make sure the women would be admitted to the hospital and receive the necessary care, if it was needed.

A spokeswoman for Pro-Life Mississippi, Tanya Britton, said Friday of the judge’s ruling that keeps the clinic open for now: “It’s not a victory for the women of the state of Mississippi. This law was always about their health. If a woman is going to have an abortion and if people who perform abortions say they really care about the health of women, then they should want the best standard of care.”

I'm guessing Ms. Britton is willing to sign that she is in support of the local hospitals admitting the women if the need was to arise. She doesn't mention it, but if she is truly in support of their health, it would seem logical that she would be. Again, was that question asked?
