MDEQ lifts nearly week-old Coast beach closure

BILOXI — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted beach closure issued July 19 for Station 12A.
The station is located on Biloxi West Central Beach near Rodenburg Avenue. The closure was from Travia Street east to Iberville Drive.
Water samples show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels, MDEQ reports.
The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
