Southaven mayor found guilty of passing school bus

SOUTHAVEN — A judge has found Southaven Mayor Greg Davis guilty of passing a school bus in his private vehicle that displayed police-type lights.
The Commercial Appeals reports Judge Steve Ross fined Davis $750, plus court costs, on the misdemeanor charges during a hearing yesterday in DeSoto County Justice Court in Southaven.
The case is one of several legal battles being waged by Davis, who also is seeking to prevent the state auditor from seizing his pay and facing a challenge from his former wife to the couple’s divorce settlement.
Davis’ attorney, Steve Farese, called the matter a “political witch hunt” and asked the judge for 30 days to decide if they will appeal the ruling.
The charges stem from a March 22 incident in Southaven.
