Former school officials charged with conspiracy, embezzlement

OLIVE BRANCH — Three former Olive Branch Middle School staff members are facing a single count each of conspiracy and embezzlement after they were indicted by a DeSoto County grand jury.
The Commercial Appeal reports former principal Michael McCoy, of Olive Branch, former assistant principal Audrey Phillips, of Memphis, and former bookkeeper Kelli McGowen, of Southaven, are accused of taking more than $10,000 from various school accounts.
In addition to conspiracy and embezzlement, Phillips is charged with make false statements and misrepresentation.
All three were booked into the DeSoto County Jail yesterday and were released on a $7,500 bond each.
It was unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
