Does Bryan not know that their lauded republican president Ronald Reagan also issued an executive order banning assault weapons? Reagan said: “I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen for sporting, for hunting and so forth, or for home defense. But I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for defense of a home.” What also seems to be overlooked here is that many of the recommendations the President offered were from the NRA. The hypocrisy of Bryant and other republicans makes Mississippi and our country look stupid.

Mr. Nix, you are so wrong. Gov. Bryant is absolutely doing the right thing to protect our State’s rights. We are not a bunch of “lobbyists” pushing to protect our gun rights – WE are the American people and we will not be trampled on by this socialist so-called president. It has been proven that gun restrictions do not work. Do you think some criminal is going to go buy a guy at Walmart and submit himself to a background check? and register his gun so the Feds know that he has one? Absolutely NOT! He is going to get a gun from another criminal on the black market. Has making drugs illegal stopped the drug trade? Did banning liquor stop people from making or selling liquor? You need to think about your position on this.
