College Board approves university construction projects

AROUND MISSISSIPPI — Mississippi’s College Board has approved the top 10 construction priorities of the state’s universities. Here is the total amount requested from the Legislature by each institution for the top 10, as well as the top two projects from each:
Alcorn State University
Total for top 10 projects: $56.2 million.
Top projects: 1. Technology classroom building, $17 million; 2. Disability modifications, $10.9 million
Delta State University
Total for top 10 projects: $62.5 million.
Top projects: 1. Court of Governors/Hill Apartments fire sprinklers, $1.3 million; 2. Student union renovation, $32.6 million.
Jackson State University
Total for top 10 projects: $51.1 million.
Top projects: 1. Dansby Hall replacement phase 1, $9 million; 2. General repair and renovation, $7 million.
Mississippi State University
Total for top 10 projects: $51 million.
Top projects: 1. Addition to Mitchell Memorial Library, $6.8 million; 2. Civil and environmental engineering complex, $14 million.
Mississippi State Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine
Total for top 10 projects: $62.7 million
Top projects: 1. Food science, nutrition and health promotion complex, $20.5 million; 2. Blackjack forest and wildlife research facility, $3.3 million.
Mississippi University for Women
Total for top 10 projects: $23.8 million.
Top projects: 1. Disability code compliance and campus safety, $3 million; 2. Fant Memorial Library addition and renovation, $8.9 million.
Mississippi Valley State University
Total for top 10 projects: $48 million.
Top projects: 1. Fire sprinklers, $2 million; 2. College Hall I renovation, $5.2 million.
University of Mississippi
Total for top 10 projects: $132 million.
Top projects: 1. Garland Hedleston Mayes dormitory renovation, $16 million; South campus recreation facility and transportation hub, $20 million.
University of Mississippi Medical Center
Total for top 10 projects: $100.2 million.
Top projects: 1. New medical school building, $30.5 million; 2. Central core support office, $9.4 million.
University of Southern Mississippi
Total for top 10 projects: $37.1 million.
Top projects: 1. Fire sprinklers Cedar Brook apartments, $300,000; 2. Printing center renovation, $3 million.
Educational Research Center (College Board headquarters in Jackson)
Total for top 10 projects: $9.4 million.
Top projects: 1. Structural repairs/water infiltration, $2.4 million; 2. Campus electrical service replacement, $1.7 million
