Investigations close into whistleblower complaints about VA hospital

medicalJACKSON — The U.S. Office of Special Counsel says investigations are closed into whistleblower disclosure about radiology and patient care practices at the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson.

Carolyn Lerner of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel sent a letter to the president yesterday about whistleblower complaints at several VA facilities, including Jackson.

In her letter, Lerner says the Department of Veterans Affairs fails to use whistleblower information to address problems with patient care, the matters involved the Jackson VA are closed.

Jackson VA officials say in a statement that VA embraced the recommendations when they came last summer and took actions to deal with them.

Officials say the closing of the reports does not end the commitment to veterans to obtain quality health care.

  1. Richard Lancaster Says:

The biggest problem with the VA & so few people are aware of this is that the VA is controlled by a Union Contract that does not allow incompetents to be terminated. The problems do not start at the top but at the bottom. That is where the cleaning out should start. Remove the Union from all VA facilities & you will have the Finest Health care system in the World. But until you can fire people starting at the bottom up you will never correct the problem of hidden lists, & the murder of Americas Hero’s. The same must happen with the Regional Offices as well. A 21 or 22 year old Union member should NEVER have the authority to decide if a veteran gets disability or not all they know is that if they can keep the veteran in the remand loop they keep getting paid & the more denials the longer the checks keep coming in. I have been lied to by the VA for over 37 years about missing combat records as have so many Veterans, especially Vietnam Veterans that comprise the most disability claims than any other era of veterans at over a Million claims. Until a veteran seats at the helm & decides the fate of another veteran there will never be a just system of disability claims within the VA. As long as there is a Union contract that prohibits those who deny Veterans of their rightful disability for a pay check veterans will continue to comment Suicide, current rate is 22 a day, & become homeless & do with out the very disability income that was promised in a contract that they willingly signed that states they were willing to DIE for this country so the very POS’s that deny them of their rightful disability can draw a paycheck. Lose the Union you will lose all problems in the VA in both the healthcare the Regional office disability claims.
