Aviation giant Lockheed Martin has scheduled its third annual “IT Day” for Feb. 17 at the Jackson Convention Complex.
Lockheed is a leading provider of information technology to the U.S. government and company representatives say they hope the day long event will encourage growth in the IT industry in Mississippi. “By learning and seeing the latest innovations in IT, our young people are more likely to pursue careers in the sciences and technology,” Lockheed said in an e-mailed statement.
Live demonstrations and interactive workshops will be available for business, community and economic leaders while more than 800 area high school and college students are expected to participate in IT Day’s science and technology competitions. Former computer hacker turned IT security specialist Kevin Mitnick will deliver Thursday’s keynote address.
“IT Day” is free and open to the public. Registration forms are available at www.itdayjackson.org.
