USM gets marketing award

The University of Southern Mississippi recently won national marketing awards while competing against big names like American Express and Coca Cola.

USM president Dr. Martha Saunders took home a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Anvil Award and several Silver Anvil Awards of Excellence.

Inc. magazine interviewed her for tips on how USM increased its national media coverage by over 800 percent, web traffic by 107 percent, alumni association by more than a 1,000 members beyond its goals and freshmen enrollment by 14 percent.
