Preliminary Fall Enrollment Figures Show Increase
Alcorn has highest increase at 19.3%; MVSU drops by 4.2%
Across Mississippi’s eight public universities, preliminary fall 2011 enrollment figures show an increase of almost 4,000 students or 5.2 percent from fall 2010 numbers.
System-wide enrollment has increased annually since 1994. This year’s increase is the largest single-year increase in enrollment.
Alcorn State University experienced an increase of 19.3 percent with a fall headcount of 4,391, the highest total in the university’s 140-year history.
The only university with a decline in enrollment is Mississippi Valley State University with a negative 4.2 percent change.
Preliminary enrollment figures are unduplicated and count students one time if enrolled on more than one campus.
