Cathead Launches Honeysuckle Vodka

The first legal distilled spirit in the state of Mississippi, Cathead Vodka, has launched Cathead Honeysuckle flavored vodka, new to the U.S. market.

Cathead Honeysuckle will hit shelves throughout the South later this spring and the company says, “it is a unique, southern-crafted spirit made from all-natural ingredients.”

From press release:

Produced by Bottle Tree Beverage Company at their Gluckstadt, Miss. distillery, the 70 proof spirit has a soft floral and herbaceous aroma, as well as a succulent, clean and delicate flavor. The vodka has a well-rounded and fresh finish and is designed to drink with water or on the rocks, letting the natural elements do the rest, or mixed as a craft cocktail. It pairs wonderfully with citrus flavors and many common mixers and has a suggested retail price of $19.99.

“Having both grown up in the South, Austin and I wanted to develop a product that was relevant to the food and beverage culture and history of the region, and honeysuckle was a perfect fit,” Cathead co-owner Richard Patrick was quoted as saying. “The honeysuckle flavor pairs well with common mixers, and it also has great crossover appeal for the craft-cocktail scene.

Headquartered in Gluckstadt, the corn-based, charcoal filtered Cathead original vodka is now available in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Indiana.

MBJ video journalist Stephen McDill visited the Bottle Tree Beverage Company in 2011 to meet with Cathead producers Austin Evans and Richard Patrick.
