Three dozen Mississippi business innovators will pitch their ideas Tuesday at the “Shark Tank – New Venture Challenge” at the Jackson Convention Complex.
This is the 5th annual venture capital challenge presented by the Mississippi Technology Alliance.
Presentations will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will conclude with a networking seminar at p.m. at which the winners will be announced.
The 36 participating companies will compete in three categories: student (team is made up entirely of students), pre-revenue (team represents a company that is in the pre-revenue stage) and commercial (team is open to post-revenue). All teams represent startup or existing companies with an innovation-based new venture opportunity.
The companies will pitch their business plans in a rapid-fire fashion to a panel of judges that include angel investors and select entrepreneurs.
Before the competition, each selected team was paired with a mentor who assisted them in preparation for the competition. Mentors are matched with companies based on their areas of expertise and experience and include angel investors, Venture Coaches Academy fellows and industry experts.
