Ridgeland-based Texting Leader LLC and Jackson-based Pearl River Glass Studio Inc. both placed first in separate divisions of the Mississippi Technology Alliance’s (MTA) Fifth Annual Mississippi New Venture Challenge last Tuesday at the Jackson Convention Complex.

The conference-style annual meeting gives start-ups an opportunity to make real pitches to an angel investor panel.

Competing against six other teams in the commercial division, Texting Leader, a technology company that focuses on mobile marketing and app development for companies worldwide, received first place. Some of their current clients include Chick-fil-A, the Mississippi Braves and 7-Eleven.

Competing against 11 teams in the pre-revenue division, Pearl River Glass Studio received first place. The company aims to leverage the experience of their current glass artists and expand their existing company by integrating innovative glass technology to create kiln-formed architectural glass art.

MBJ-TV spoke recently with Texting Leader CEO Brad McMullan and Pearl River Glass owner and chief designer Andrew Young.
