Viking Range Corporation of Greenwood, Miss., announced Thursday their plans to build a cooking school at the Town of Livingston during the market this afternoon. They will have their rendering / plans to show as well.
Town Livingston is a recently conceived residential and retail development. The first phase (includes) a mercantile store and service station. The first phase of the project will create approximately 40 jobs. There will be 80-100 short-term construction jobs.
Phase one of The Township at Livingston is comprised of 16 acres that have a significant historical value to Madison County. Located at the intersection of Mississippi highways 463 and 22, The Township property was the original county seat for Madison County.

Sunken road beds & elder native hardwoods outline the skeletal remnants of a community from the past. The existing Livingston Church Road is planned as the primary “Main Street” for The Township and is enhanced with a themed general mercantile store, two story boutique retail spaces with balconies, and a town hall/ chapel.
The site of the original courthouse is planned to be preserved in its natural state,. A small gathering garden with a historical marker is planned as the forefront of the “new town courthouse” which will incorporate a town museum and bakery on the lower floor, and office uses on the second floor.
A “Vendor’s Green” mall is the centerpiece of the town anchored by a Farmer’s Market and a Performing Art’s Pavilion. Providing much needed retail and office uses, the town is also planned to host many potential community festivals such as a fall pumpkin patch/ October Fest, Christmas Village, and a Spring Bluegrass Festival.
