Mississippi country singer and “American Idol” Season 11 finalist Skylar Laine dropped by the Mississippi Business Journal newsroom yesterday to catch our readers and viewers up on her life after Idol.
The Brandon native is finalizing plans for her first album (look for it next spring) and is continuing a search for a music label that will fit her voice and vision.
Skylar hopes to move to Nashville after Christmas and between her voice and her passion for songwriting, she’s sure to find work.
In the following videos, Skylar dishes on everything from Instagram to Dolly Parton.
A quintessential Mississippi girl, Skylar is an avid deer hunter and is saving her money for a Mossy Oak camo-dipped guitar. She says she can’t wait to go to this year’s Mistletoe Marketplace with her mother and grandmother.
“I just want to say thank you so much to Mississippi. They’ve supported me and they still support me every time I have something,” she says. “Whenever I have meet and greets I’m like, you know, people have already met me so they’re probably not gonna come to this one. I see so many people coming back and coming back. That just warms my heart.”
