That’s what Stennis Institute development director Phil Hardwick does every year with dollars spent locally at Mississippi homegrown businesses.
Instead of fighting traffic and crowds at big box retailers like Wal-Mart, Toys ‘R Us or the recently troubled Best Buy, one suggestion this year is to buy local.
Hardwick says that keeps more sales taxes in the state; money that can come back to communities from Tupelo to Ocean Springs and be used on everything from schools to new roads.
