“The Power of Information” is the theme of the fifth annual Lockheed Martin Information Technology Day on March 22 at the Jackson Convention Center. The day-long event is intended to increase IT education and awareness, and encourage networking and collaboration in industry, academia and the community. The free event begins at 9 a.m. and is open to the public.
The goal is to “increase the pipeline for STEM careers,” said Iyanna Colly, career services coordinator at Hinds Community College.
STEM stands for Science, Technology and Math. Students from high schools, colleges and universities across the state of Mississippi, as well as the public are invited. The event is similar to a career fair but on a larger scale and includes panel discussions, competitions and a reception, Colly said.
