General Dynamics’ newest Hattiesburg call center to create 1,000 jobs

general-dynamics-logo-lg2HATTIESBURG, Mississippi –A new General Dynamics customer call center announced Thursday for the Cloverleaf Center here is expected to generate up to 1,000 new jobs over the next few months. The jobs are in addition to another General Dynamics’ call center that will hire 225 people this summer and another 25 workers by next spring.

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, is locating a new Customer Support Center in the Cloverleaf Center on Hwy. 49 South. The project is expected toy create 1,000 jobs, according to an announcement by Gov. Phil Bryant’s office.

The new center will support General Dynamics’ contracts with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, including the 1-800-MEDICARE program, by providing responses to inquiries from CMS customers and beneficiaries across the nation.

General Dynamics provides operations and maintenance support for several Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services programs including the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program, Retiree Drug Subsidy program and the ViPS Medicare System. General Dynamics has worked with CMS since 2005.

The new Hattiesburg project is in addition to the Federal Student Aid Information Center project announced by the company in February, which will create an additional 225 new jobs by this summer, increasing to 250 by spring 2014.

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance in support of the project for building modifications, in addition to local and state tax incentives and workforce training assistance.

General Dynamics will be staffing the new call center with customer service representatives during the summer.
