FYI: Charter School 101 meeting scheduled

pencilsThe Mississippi Coalition for Public Charter Schools will be holding an informational conference next week at the Woolfolk Building in downtown Jackson to discuss the ins and outs of charter school formations in Mississippi.

Attendees can register for the June 25 conference here. The cost is $15.

MCPCS says the conference will outline the basics of the Mississippi Charter School Act of 2013 as well as the application and authorization process for organizations wishing to apply to open a public charter school in Mississippi.

Attendees will also have a chance to hear from and ask questions of successful charter school operators from across the Southeast.

MCPCS is comprised of Mississippi First, the Mississippi Center for Public Policy, the Mississippi Association of Realtors, the Black Alliance for Educational Options, BE4Miss, and the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.

When: Tuesday, June 25, 2013, 1 PM-5 PM.

    How can they charge to hold a “conference” in a state owned building? Are they paying to rent the space?
