Innovate Mississippi taps Mayo Flynt for chairman

Innovate Mississippi announces the election of Mayo Flynt, president of AT&T Mississippi, as chairman of the Innovate Mississippi board of directors. Rich Sun, founder and owner of Sun & Co. was elected vice chairman.

“We’re fortunate to have such a high-powered and dedicated board that gives their time so generously to strengthen the innovation economy in Mississippi,” said Tony Jeff, president and CEO of Innovate Mississippi.

“By focusing on innovation, we can create jobs and economic development here in Mississippi,” said Flynt of his new role as board chairman for Innovate Mississippi. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House, legislative leaders and the private sector to push Mississippi to the front of the innovation race.”

The Innovate Mississippi board of directors is made up of private sector CEOs, innovation and technology entrepreneurs, business leaders, and investors. Representing the board’s public sector are the presidents of Mississippi’s four research universities – Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi.

Innovate Mississippi is a nonprofit organization with the mission to drive innovation and technology-based economic development for the State of Mississippi.
